SGA passes legislation to support longer Thanksgiving break

The SGA Senate passed a resolution today in its weekly meeting to extend the Thanksgiving holiday.

The resolution-which was passed as presented-will extend the holiday by two days, making it a whole week instead of only part of the week. The resolution will be sent to university administration and shared governance committees for further approval.

“I think one of the recurring themes that I am seeing with this discussion is that you have students who like to get short breaks and then you have students that want to have one long break,” said SGA President Ralph Akalonu.

SGA’s resolution will need to be passed up the ladder for approval before it can become official, said Tammy Jacques, director of student engagement and SGA adviser.
