Official: No comment on University of New Mexico search for coach

Officials at the University of New Mexico said they will not reveal information on their search for a new football coach, and did not confirm UNA head coach Terry Bowden as their leading candidate for the new position.

Frank Mercogliano, assistant athletics director of communications at the University of New Mexico, did not verify that Bowden is considering leaving UNA for a coaching job at the University of New Mexico.

“We are not commenting on anything regarding new coach searches,” he said.

Mark Linder, athletics director at UNA, also told The Flor-Ala Wednesday afternoon that he has not been informed of any reports that Bowden could be leaving for a new coaching position at the University of New Mexico.
