The homecoming bonfire Oct. 14 is cancelled due to safety regulations. 

“There’s a no burn ordinance from the Alabama Forestry Commission,” said Director of Student Engagement Tyler Thompson. “So, (I) spoke with the fire department, and it’s just really dangerous.”

The climate is too hazardous due to the lack of humidity and rain and an increase in wind, Thompson said.

“Everything else is happening except for the fire,” said Student Government Association President Sarah Green. “There will still be the DJ (and) the pep rally.”
