SGA works to earn trust, improve campus safety

On behalf of SGA, it is my pleasure to welcome you back to UNA — the place where the Lions are always roaring and the campus is always growing! This is going to be an exciting year and we are thrilled you have chosen to be a part of it.

I know this year will be exciting because I have already seen so much hard work and determination being poured out by your new SGA representatives who mapped out four significant goals for the upcoming school year this summer:

Building Campus Traditions and School Spirit

Increasing Collaboration with Students and Student Groups

Improving Campus Beautification and Navigation

Improving Campus Safety and Awareness

At the retreat, we discussed many ways to work toward these goals, but more than anything, we want to hear your thoughts as to how we can do it.

SGA is divided into the branches of Executive Council, Senate, University Programs Council, Freshman Forum and Judicial. Executive Council is made up of your officers for this year. Senate is the legislative body of SGA and will be dealing directly with student concerns. UPC is our programming branch and will be planning concerts, movies, tailgating and other events throughout the year. Freshman Forum is the entry-level branch of the SGA. We know that incoming freshmen face a whole different set of challenges than the rest of the student body, so we have a branch completely dedicated to meeting those challenges.

It is the goal of SGA to work every day to earn students’ trust and to serve with the utmost integrity. We not only want your feedback and concerns, we need them, so please feel free to contact us anytime in the offices located in the GUC, across from the game room. Your voice as a student is vital to what we do.
