It’s all Greek to me

The Zeta Eta chapter of Alpha Delta Pi was founded Feb. 17, 1973. AΔΠ’s philanthropy, Ronald McDonald House Charities, helps provide needy families with urgent care internationally.

The Eta Rho chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was founded March 23, 1973. ZTA’s national foundation is a major leader in breast cancer awareness, providing annual scholarships for members and leadership opportunities for all.

The Theta Eta chapter of Phi Mu began March 24, 1973. It was the first sorority to utilize chapter developments, a widely-used meeting structure, as well as National Philanthropy Day. Phi Mu aims to provide personal and academic development.

The Theta Eta chapter of Alpha Tau Omega was the first fraternity at UNA founded Jan. 30, 1974 on Christian principles, but it is open to all men. ATΩ is one of the 10 largest fraternities in North America.

The Theta Alpha chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha was founded at UNA March 3, 1974. Also known as PIKE, the fraternity “strives to be scholars, leaders, athletes and gentlemen.”

The Phi Upsilon chapter of Phi Gamma Delta, often referred to as FIJI, was founded at UNA March 23, 1974. FIJI’s goal is to promote ethical standards and values in its members as well as personal goals of excellence while supporting a national philanthropy with the American Red Cross.

UNA has been home to the Eta Rho Chapter of Sigma Chi since April 20, 1974. Sigma Chi fraternity aims to promote friendship, justice and learning as well advance their philanthropy with the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

The Lambda Omicron chapter of Kappa Sigma has been governed by the four pillars of fellowship, leadership, scholarship and service at UNA since May 4, 1974. Kappa Sigma supports Fisher House, which aids military families, as its philanthropy. 

Founded Jan. 17, 1975, the Kappa Gamma chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha aims to create and progress leaders within the fraternity and to promote a sense of unity to those around its members. Alpha Phi Alpha supports a number of organizations through philanthropic actions, including the Alpha Phi Alpha Education Foundation, Inc.

Kappa Alpha Psi‘s Theta Upsilon chapter was founded Oct. 10, 1976. Kappa Alpha Psi supports the Boys and Girls Club and Handy House for Exceptional Children as their philanthropies, and they operate on the principles of maturity and dedication.

UNA’s Gamma Psi chapter of the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority was founded April 16, 1977 with a mission to support lifelong learning and prepare its members to be contributing members of society. Alpha Gamma Delta’s philanthropy focuses on diabetes awareness and education.

Delta Sigma Theta‘s Xi Phi chapter was the first sorority in the National Pan-Hellenic Council to be present on campus, arriving April 12, 1980. This organization supports a number of organizations in Florence, including the Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center and YMCA of the Shoals.

The Nu Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha was chartered at UNA Dec. 7, 1980. Alpha Kappa Alpha is the oldest Greek-lettered organization created by African-American women and encourages individual strength, courage and ability among its members, as well as programs about leadership, health initiatives and global poverty.

“The True Gentlemen” of Sigma Alpha Epsilon‘s Alabama Nu chapter joined campus Feb. 21, 1989. They strive for friendship, scholarship, and service and support a philanthropy with the Children’s Miracle Network and have created the “True Gentleman Day of Service.”

The Alpha Sigma Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta was founded Nov. 22, 2003. They “strive for the best, and settle for nothing less” by focusing on community service and womanhood as well as supporting a number of philanthropies, including Z-HOPE (Zeta Helping Other People Excel).

The North Alabama chapter of Delta Chi was founded at UNA Sept. 28, 2006 and aims to challenge its members to be gentlemen and true community leaders. Delta Chi’s philanthropy supports The V Foundation for Cancer Research.

Phi Beta Sigma‘s Beta Beta Alpha chapter is the newest Greek organization on campus, founded Dec. 4, 2010. Its members strive to provide service to the general community and support many philanthropies, including the Phi Beta Sigma National Foundation.
