Graduating senior reflects on seasonal changes

Spring is upon us, but I’m sure everyone is completely aware of that fact by evidence of sniffy noses and watery eyes. While the pollen is certainly unpleasant right now, I still must admit my love for spring.

When I moved to Florence two years ago to attend UNA I never realized how attached I would become to this city and university. Now that I find myself less than a month away from graduation, I cannot help but be reflective and slightly sentimental.

I have a passion for nature photography, and on those beautiful spring days when I can hear the great outdoors calling my name I love to visit Wilson Park and UNA’s campus.

Wilson Park’s roaring water fountain is one of its best features, but I also enjoy the lovely trees that bloom during the spring. Many people come to relax at the benches around the fountain in the park and it is refreshing to see others who enjoy spending time there.

I would venture to say UNA’s campus is one of the most beautiful during springtime. The well-manicured lawn and flowers add to the appeal with the tulips being this year’s show stealer. The tulips in front of Willingham Hall are especially bright at this time.

I think one of the best times to visit UNA’s campus is on the weekends when hardly anyone is around. Just take a walk and enjoy the beauty of it all. I am so appreciative to be a Lion and Florence native — especially during springtime.
