Committee plans barbecue to introduce candidates

In light of the upcoming Student Government Association executive committee elections, March 10 to 12, SGA is planning an event to allow students to get acquainted with the candidates.

“Meat the Candidates” will be held in the GUC Loft from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 6 and will let students mingle with the SGA members who are running for office in a relaxed environment, said Jensen Joiner, elections and recruitment chairperson.

“Our goal is to make this event more relaxed so people can actually get to know the people who are running for an executive position,” Joiner said. “We also want to make it so that the candidates can give their platform and answer questions from students.”

SGA will also provide food and entertainment at the event, he said.

“We’re going to have barbecue, chips, drinks, banana pudding and some kind of entertainment free for students so everybody can get to know each other,” Joiner said.

Elections will begin at 8 a.m. on March 10 and will remain open until 6 p.m. March 12.

Kekoria Greer is running unopposed for president.

Nick Lang and Nikki Messer are running for vice president of senate.

Daniel Thompson is running unopposed for vice president of the university program council.
