Program council intends to purchase movie supplies

The University Program Council discussed the idea of buying a new movie screen to show movies on next semester at their Nov. 11 meeting.

“The current screen that we have is 10 years old and is falling into disrepair,” said Tyler Thompson, UPC adviser. “We had to rent a screen for the last movie because the one we have is broken.”

UPC tabled the discussion in order to research potential movie screens and prices.

UPC also discussed the potential to buy a popcorn machine for SGA events like Welcome Week and movie nights.

“SGA as a whole holds multiple events frequently and the current popcorn machine we have is wearing and tearing rapidly,” said Walter Hartley, vice president of UPC. “Our current popcorn machine was bought in the late 90s and we have gotten a lot of use out of it, but it’s time for a new one.”

UPC voted to buy a new popcorn machine for spring 2014.

November’s movie night has been cancelled because UPC’s provider did not have the movie “Anchorman.” UPC will be hosting a Christmas-themed movie night Dec. 4, the night before Dead Day.
