Student explores campus residence halls

One of the coolest parts about living on campus in the dorms is the sense of community. This feeling is reinforced by all the activities that go on in the residence halls, specifically door decorations around fall and Halloween.

This year, several residence halls had contests for the autumn decorations, and residents prettied up the halls in time for fall. In LaGrange, one door is completely wrapped in toilet paper, making it a huge mummy. Some other residents have hung streamers from the ceiling, creating a tunnel to walk through. Some girls have placed pumpkins outside their doors, and one room even has a bowl of candy with a “Trick-or-Treat!” sign.

In Rivers, a door on the second floor has been decorated as a huge 3-D tree using brown paper. It’s obvious just how much work the students put into these ornate decorations.

The dorm decorations do more than just spruce up otherwise dull, white hallways. They’re fun, creative, and make the halls feel like just what they are — a community.
