Jason Vaughn hired as new golf coach

The UNA Athletic Department has hired Jason Vaughn as the new head golf coach, replacing Stuart Clark, who resigned in July.

“We went through our normal process,” Athletic Director Mark Linder said. “Last week we did interviews and it was obvious that he was the guy for us.”

Vaughn’s history with the Lions’ golf program was a big part of the reason he was hired, Linder said.

“He played here, he represents the university well and he already has great community relations,” he said.

Recruiting and getting equipment is not an issue for Vaughn, as Clark took care of all of it before he resigned.

“Stuart (Clark) left us in a great situation,” Linder said.

Vaughn was an All-American in 2002 and 2003 at UNA while winning the UNA Male Athlete of the Year in 2002.
