Winkler crowned Miss UNA 2013

Miss UNA gained a new title holder tonight in Norton Auditorium.

Freshman Emily Winkler, from Dora, AL, was crowned Miss UNA.

Senior Terri Wright, from Florence, was first runner-up. Wright said she was very shocked and couldn’t have asked for more.

Allison Shelton, junior, from Rothselberg, Germany was second runner-up followed by freshman Chelsea Yarber from Muscle Shoals as third runner-up.

This year’s pageant also gave various other titles to the contestants.

Miss Congeniality, a title voted on by the contestants, was given to Rachel Wammack, a freshman from Muscle Shoals. She also garnered the “Best Talent” title after singing while playing the marimba.

Senior Ann Marie Russ, from Florence, was given the People’s Choice Award, a title given to the contestant who audience members donated the most money to prior to the pageant. 

Best Swimsuit went Avy Stansbury, a junior from Danville, AL.

Stansbury said the best part of the competition was meeting all of the contestants.

“Getting to know them all was wonderful,” she said. “They are all truly beautiful.”
