Q: Who are you?

A: I’m Jared McCoy, the copy/opinion editor for The Flor-Ala.

 

Q: So, the title of your playlist is ‘The Insomniac’s Cure.’ Tell me what you meant by that.

A: When I started college at UNA, I developed a bad case of insomnia. I discovered that the ambient music on the playlist helped to fix that.

 

Q: Would you say that this ambient music reflects the rest of your musical tastes?

A: Not necessarily — I like music that can be as quiet or calming as the music on the playlist, or loud, heavy-metal music.

 

Q: Do you have a favorite song on the playlist?

A: It’s a tie between Satie’s “Gymnopedie No. 1” and “Avril 14th” by Aphex Twin.

 

Q: You seem to have very different and varying tastes in music. Where do you find a lot of the music like what’s on your playlist?

A: Some of it I already had, but then I began searching Tumblr and pages with mixed albums to find things with a similar sound.
