Associate VP of Academic Affairs promoted to address strategic enrollment growth

UNA officials are promoting Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs Thomas Calhoun to the position of vice president for enrollment this January, said Josh Woods, director of university communications.

Calhoun will be in charge of developing an enrollment growth plan to better accommodate more qualified students, Woods said.

“There is a need by UNA and many other universities to look at strategic growth plans like this for a variety of reasons, such as making UNA education more accessible to more qualified students,” Woods said.

Woods said the plan Calhoun will develop should help UNA in the face of tough economic times.

“This will position the university in these economic times when state universities receive less and less funding to be able to educate more students while not putting the rising tuition burden on them,” Woods said.

Calhoun will maintain many of the responsibilities of his current job while focusing more on enrollment, Woods said.

Woods said there is no expected completion date of the enrollment growth plan at this time, but more details will be announced in the coming months.
