Mary-Francis Wilson—a sophomore nursing major and candidate for Student Government Association secretary—said she definitely has what it takes to be SGA secretary next year.

“I’ll make a great secretary,” she said. “I’ve held a job since I was 15—and three of them were as a secretary.”

Three words define Wilson’s campaign, she said.

“My vision is based on efficiency, effectiveness and communication,” she said.

Wilson said she wants to help improve communication in several ways if she is selected as next year’s secretary.

“I want both branches to communicate well with each other, but I also want them to communicate with students,” she said. “Students should have access to their leaders.”

Having served on freshman forum and as legislative affairs chair on senate this year, Wilson said she is excited to get more experience in the different branches of student government. If Wilson wins the secretary race, she said she will make a bigger effort to reach out to students.

“I like to see faces, to see people expressing themselves,” she said. “I love getting student input, and I want students to feel comfortable coming to me and chatting. I might not be able to help you, but I’ll find you somebody who can.”
