Wallen hits eight three-pointers against Lipscomb

Emma Wallen knocked down eight three-point baskets and finished with a game-high 30 points to lead the University of North Alabama women’s basketball team to an 81-60 win at Lipscomb Feb. 2.

The sixth straight victory gives the Lions a 16-2 overall record with a 7-1 mark in ASUN Conference play. They trail Florida Gulf Coast for the top ASUN ranked team.

The Lions ended the first quarter with a 25-19 lead but quickly lost it due to an 11-point second quarter in which the Lady Bisons took a 38-36 lead into the half.

UNA score the first eight point of the second have to jump ahead by six. Lipscomb would score and bring it within two before the Lions used a 12-0 run.

The Lions scored 28 in the third quarter to regain the lead and then would score 17 more in the fourth quarter. UNA held Lipscomb to 11 points each quarter and North Alabama would not lose the lead again.

As North Alabama took a 14-point lead against the Bisons, Emma Wallen scored or assisted on every point during that stretch to increase it to 56-42 with under four minutes remaining.

Brittany Panetti started the fourth quarter with a pair of free throws to make the score 64-49. Ivy Wallen added another 12 points in the Lions win, while Ansley Eubank ended with 11 and Panetti also added 10 more.

North Alabama is one game behind Florida Gulf Coast in the ASUN conference. Stetson is two games behind first place and Liberty is three games behind first.
