Soccer team receives two Player of the Week honors
September 7, 2011
The Lion’s soccer team received Gulf South Conference Player of the Week honors for Sept. 6 with juniors Chloe Roberts and Katie Crosby receiving both awards.
Roberts, a native of Plymouth, England, scored three goals and two assists in the two victories over St. Thomas and Barry last weekend. Those goals gave her 63 goals for her career, and is one goal shy of the UNA career scoring record and second place in the GSC history.
Crosby, a native of Fort Myers, Fla., helped the defense allow only one goal in two matches. She helped shutdown two of the top scorers in Division II from last season and held them scoreless in the 5-1 victory over Barry.
The Lions is scheduled to play Wednesday against Carson-Newman at 2 p.m. at the UNA soccer field.
