Soccer team off to fast start in conference play

The UNA soccer team got off to a good start in conference play, defeating Delta State last night at home.
Sophomore forward Jennifer Osmond scored the lone goal of the game in the 61st minute, which was held for the remainder of the game, giving the Lions a 1-0 victory to open the Gulf South Conference schedule.
UNA senior goalkeeper Alex McLay received her fourth shutout of the year and extended her school record to 21.
Nikki Brown got the credit for the assist, which was her fifth assist on the year and the 37th of her career.
The Lions (7-2) will travel to Christian Brothers for another conference game Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
