UNA students arrested on drug charges

Two UNA students were arrested Sept.
15 on drug charges after allegedly smoking marijuana in Rivers Hall
on campus, according to officials.

“font-size: 12pt;”>Robert Travis Steele, 18, of Columbus, Ga. and
Andrew Patrick Barber,19, of Opelika, were charged with
second-degree possession of marijuana and drug
paraphernalia.

“font-size: 12pt;”>Steele and Barber were both arrested by UNA
police and taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Center and
booked on drug charges.

“font-size: 12pt;”>According to police records, Steele was hiding
in the closet when officers came in to the room. Steele, Barber and
a third subject were in the room when Residence Life staff and
police officers responded to the call.

“font-size: 12pt;”>Use or possession of illegal drugs or drug
paraphernalia is strictly prohibited on campus, according to UNA’s
Code of Conduct. Residence Halls have a no tolerance drug standard,
and students who are found in violation are immediately removed
from the residence halls.
