Singing River Records to release new Archie Hubbard album
February 10, 2011
Singing River Records will release the next album from the label this week. Archie Hubbard, Singing River Records’ artist for this year is set to release his record, “The Ride.”
Singing River Records will hold a showcase for Hubbard this Friday night at Billy Reid in downtown Florence. The event will start at 7 p.m. and admission is $5 at the door.
Hubbard looks forward to the release of the new record. “Making this record has given me confidence as an artist,” Hubbard said.
Hubbard described his album as impacting. “I think the songs evoke thought and conversation,” Hubbard said.
The entire project was put together entirely by students; everything including the marketing and recording was all student run. The students made every decision regarding the album, and chose Hubbard earlier this year.
“We want it to be successful for the students,” Bob Garfrerick, chair of the department of entertainment industry, said. “We want a young contemporary showcase. The show is going to be young, hip and buzzy.”
Janna Malone, instructor of entertainment industry said that the showcase will be different than the showcases in the past. “It’s going to be a different feel since it’s a smaller venue,” Malone said.
