Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) is hosting a coat drive Feb. 8 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. to help those less fortunate in the Shoals area during the cold winter season.

Colby Mays, ATO social service chairman, said the group is fulfilling its service project for the new year by collecting new and gently used coats, which will be donated to the Salvation Army in downtown Florence.

“With it being so cold outside, we thought donating coats to the needy or homeless would be a perfect way to show our support for the community,” he said.

The coat drive will take place in front of Rogers Hall by the UNA sign. Mays said that some of the ATO brothers will stand outside without coats to encourage more people to donate.
