<p class="MsoNormal" style=

<span style=

Cam Newton might as well just be

given the trophy right now.  Newton has accounted for more

touchdowns than 71 FBS teams this season. That is one guy scoring

more than 71 complete teams. There should be no

doubt.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

The Heisman Trophy is reserved

for the one player who plays heads and shoulders above everyone

else in the nation. Newton has done that week in and week out.  A

lot of critics say he is one dimensional, a run only

QB.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; letter-spacing: -.1pt; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

This just isn’t the case. Newton

has had a 67 percent completion rating and a 182.77 passer rating.

He looks for the pass first most of the time. He has the

elusiveness of Michael Vick with the size of Peyton

Manning.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; letter-spacing: -.1pt; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

There is no other player in the

country that makes defenses scratch their heads and wonder what

just happened as he scampers into the end zone or throws a bullet

downfield while falling out of bounds. Newton should without a

doubt get the Heisman. Time will tell.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

I think that Cam Newton deserves

the Heisman Trophy this year.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

He has been the most dominant

player in the nation and has helped his team out more then the

other candidates.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

Despite all this drama

surrounding his name, I think that he is innocent and it’s just a

group of people trying to run him down for not going to their

school.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

But who knows, I could be wrong

when it’s all said and done.  But until something comes of it and

he is ruled ineligible in the games he played, let the kid play and

give him the award he deserves.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Futura; mso-bidi-font-family: Futura; letter-spacing: .2pt; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

 JR Tidwell

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

The 2010 Heisman Trophy race is

already over as far as I am concerned.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

Cam Newton should win the award,

and if he does not the Heisman voters should re-evaluate their

position on what the award means.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

The award is supposed to go to

the “most outstanding player,” but as ESPN commentator Mark

Schlereth recently said, the award goes to “the most outstanding

player to touch the ball.”

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

In his opinion (and my own)

Ndamukong Suh should have won last year, but since he is on

defense, he did not get the credit he deserved.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

According to an ESPN Insider

article, the Heisman race is between Newton and Oregon Ducks

running back LaMichael James.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

James did not eclipse 100 yards

against an unranked California, so I cannot see how or why Newton

would not win.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Futura; mso-bidi-font-family: Futura; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

Evan Underwood

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

If I were a Heisman voter, my

first, second, and third place votes would go to Cameron Newton,

LaMichael James, and Andrew Luck respectively.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

The Heisman “annually recognizes

the most outstanding college football player” which, in my

estimation, is Newton.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

If it were not for the current

allegations swirling around Newton and his recruitment, which at

times resembles a witch hunt this country has not witnessed since

Salem, Newton would most likely set the record for largest margin

of victory in Heisman voting history.

<p class="MsoNormal" style=

“text-align: justify; text-indent: 14.0pt; mso-line-height-alt: 11.3pt; mso-pagination: none; mso-layout-grid-align: none; text-autospace: none;”>

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

Hyperbole aside, the allegations

levied against Newton will eventually be proven true or false, but

it will not be any time soon.

<span style=

“font-size: 14.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size: 11.0pt; font-family: Times; mso-bidi-font-family: Times; mso-font-kerning: .5pt;”>

His stats are mind-boggling

(he’s on pace to throw for over 2,000 yards and run for 1,500

yards), and he has had more than a few “Heisman

moments.”
