North Alabama starting quarterback Noah Walters has announced he is entering the transfer portal in a post on Twitter.
“First and foremost I want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play this game,” said Walters. “I also want to thank all of my coaches, teammates, and mentors that have been beside me along this journey. With that being said, I have entered the transfer portal with two years of eligibility left.”
Walters is a sophomore from Lincoln, Neb., and was named Phil Steele ASUN Conference Freshman of the Year in 2022. For the 2022 year, he completed 130 of 239 passes for 1799 yards with 16 touchdowns and eight interceptions averaging 13.8 yards per pass He also had 76 carries for 159 yards with two rushing touchdowns and an average of 2.1 yards per carry.
In his two years with the Lions, he passed for 4,100 yards and scored 40 total touchdowns with 25 interceptions.
Just four days later, on Apr. 25, former Stanford quarterback Ari Patu announced he had committed to UNA. The Lions have three other quarterbacks who played in the spring game: TJ Smith, a transfer from Florida Atlantic, Ben Harris and Isaiah Tate.
