The University of North Alabama’s Preview Day season officially started on Sep. 14. Prospective students from all over the country stepped foot on campus to explore new opportunities.
Preview Day is one of UNA’s first and biggest recruiting events of the school year. It allows potential future students, may they be high school, international or transfer students, to get a glimpse of what it means to be at the university.
Preview Day begins with an official kickoff at Norton Auditorium after attendees have a “Build Your Own Schedule” activity sheet stretching across campus. Buildings like the GUC, Colby Hall, and Harrison Hall have activities that relate to different paths one may want to take at UNA. The full schedule is posted at una.edu/previewday.
Every guest gets an 8-dollar voucher to eat at any of the dining options on campus.
LaGrange Society members also lead tours, show off the campus and answer any questions attendees may have.
Preview Day allows those considering attending UNA to get a true organic feel for the UNA culture, with students attending their classes as usual and walking freely across campus. It is also a great day for students to wear their UNA merchandise, or grab more from the merchandise stations across campus.
“I really just wanted to tour as many colleges as possible,” said freshman Naomi Anderson from New Century Technology High School, who was in attendance for Preview Day. “I wanted to find the best fit for me before I made my choice.”
That is what Preview Day is all about, finding where you fit in, finding what feels like a home away from home.
The first preview day had a total of 131 students and 117 guests for a total of 248 attendees.
“We were happy with the turnout, considering the bad weather and an ACT test that was scheduled for the same day.” stated Mary D. Harber, Assistant Director for Recruitment and Orientation.
But that was not the last of the UNA Preview Day. There are two other dates are Monday, Oct. 7, and Saturday, Nov. 2. Those wanting to attend can register at una.edu/previewday. Questions can be directed to UNA Admissions Office at [email protected].
