On Monday around 6 p.m., a Florence man was arrested and charged with Assault of a Police Officer and Resisting Arrest after refusing to leave a residence, according to police.
Officers with the Florence Police Department responded to a call on the 500 Block North Franklin Street, according to police. Officers responded to the residence to help a homeowner remove an “unwanted guest.”
Tyler Reeves, 31, was present at the residence and refused to leave after he had been asked. Officers made contact with Reeves at the front door, where he “slammed the door.” Again, Reeves opened the front door when officers then began to grab him and he slammed the door once again. The door “struck the officer’s arm, causing the glass to shatter, and the officer sustained a deep laceration to his arm.” The officer was taken to North Alabama Medical Center and has been treated and released.
Reeves is being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Center with a $2,800.00 bond.
