Florence Police discover body in Sweetwater Creek

At 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, officers with the Florence Police Department responded to a call of a deceased body in Sweetwater Creek, according to police. The body was reported to be found near the intersection of North Patton Street and Sweetwater Avenue.
The identity and cause of death is still under investigation and the body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy, according to police. The body was reported to have been deceased for some time.

Florence Police discover body in Sweetwater Creek Update

Florence Police Department located a body lying in Sweetwater Creek near the intersection of North Patton Street and Sweetwater Avenue on the afternoon of Oct. 4. The body was identified as Clarance Spann, 69, who had been missing since Sept. 20. Police say there is no suspicion of foul play in his death.
