Early in the morning on Oct. 6, A charge of Criminal Mischief of the first degree was charged at the Grandview apartments, according to the University of North Alabama Police Department’s crime log.
The case remains open and under investigation. To be considered Criminal Mischief in the first degree, a person must commit with intent to damage property and have no right to do so or any reasonable ground to believe that he/she has such a right and if they inflict damage to the property in an amount exceeding $2,500.
UNA’s Daily Crime and Fire Log is an open resource available to all students and faculty. It can be found on the UNAPD’s website. It includes all crimes reported to the UNAPD, including “on Campus, in or on certain Non-campus buildings and property, on Public Property within and immediately adjacent to the campus and within the expanded patrol jurisdiction of UPD,” according to the website. The log also includes any fire that happens in an on-campus student residence hall or facility.
The log shows the most recent 60 days of activity, any requests for entries older will need to email a request to [email protected].
