Bank Independent’s Helping Hands Foundation will hold its 2024 Helping Hands Half Marathon on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Marriott Conference Center. The event will feature a half marathon, 5K and fun run, with races beginning at 7 a.m.
Race packets will be available for pick-up on Friday, Oct. 25, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., or on race day from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. Participants will receive event t-shirts and have the opportunity to compete for prizes.
The Helping Hands Half Marathon is part of Bank Independent’s broader commitment to community involvement through its Helping Hands Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit established in 2011 following the April 27 tornado outbreak. The foundation focuses on supporting local organizations and causes that align with the bank’s mission of giving back.
Since its founding, the foundation has provided support through donations, sponsorships, and volunteerism. Bank Independent offers employees eight hours of paid time annually to volunteer for local charitable organizations, including food pantries, animal shelters and community events.
The bank also runs quarterly share drives to meet additional needs in the community, such as school supplies, food for children and aid for non-profits.
