UNA’s Lady Lions have secured another victory in their match against UWG on Oct. 25 at Flowers Hall. The match was close, but UNA cleared them out with a clean 3-0. This is their first time going against the Wolves since 2017 and they didn’t hold anything back. UNA started off the weekend with a victory.
This win has continued their streak making this their eighth win in a row against them. The Lady Lions Lions are currently on a four win streak.UNA hasn’t lost a game against UWG since 2014, and they did not plan to lose this game either.
Olivia Fenoff did achieve a season-high of two assists during this game. Even if there were not a lot of season-highs in this match, the Lady Lions did not hesitate to show off how deadly they are.
Jasmine Brooks managed to get the highest number of kills in this match with a whopping 18 of them. A kill is a successful, aggressive attack that directly results in a point or the termination of a rally. A rally is the continuous sequence of play that occurs from the moment the ball is served until the ball is out of play.
Two out of the three sets were very close. The first set ended in 25-21 with the Wolves leading in the beginning, but the Lady Lions made an impressive comeback. The second set ended in 25-15 with the Lady Lions leading in points the majority of the match. The third and final set ended in 25-20 that the Lady Lions skillfully won by their very offensive playing.
UNA was superior statistically in every way against the Lady Wolves. They racked in the higher number of kills at 49, totalled 115 attempts and had a hitting percentage of .296%. Additionally, they had 44 assists, four aces and five blocks. The Lady Lions decided to show out this match.
UWG did well against the Lady Lions and were led by Mary Formby and Alex Strating. Both had seven kills and two blocks, making them the offensive leaders for their team this match. Victoria Schemer led with the most digs and Calloway Cason had 26 assists in that match.
