The University of North Alabama’s Student Government Association will host “The Lucky Lion Race” on March 15. This 5k color run will be a fundraiser for UNA’s Student Counseling Services, which provides UNA students with mental health resources.
The SGA chose SCS as their philanthropic focus for this year. They are seeking to provide students with the best treatment possible for whatever struggle they may be going through.
The Lucky Lion Race will be open to everyone in the Florence community to promote mental and physical health while raising money for SCS. Food trucks and giveaways will also allow spectators to contribute.
The race will begin at the Harrison Plaza Fountain and run through Wildwood Park before circling back to Harrison Plaza for the award ceremony. The Lucky Lion Race will award first, second and third-place medals to each category after the race is completed.
Each runner can choose to represent an institution they would like to represent. If more than one person from that institution chooses to compete, their times will be averaged to a singular time for that division.
The deadline to register for the Lucky Lion Race is Feb. 28. Check-in starts at 8 a.m., and the race begins at 9 a.m. The cost is $35 to enter.
Local businesses are welcome to sponsor the event by reaching out to [email protected] or [email protected].
