The University School of the Arts hosted “Hot Takes Powerpoint night on Jan. 28.
This event was open to all students, and it centered around creating a powerpoint that showed their lighthearted hot takes. Creating a powerpoint was not necessary to attend the event, but those who did presented their opinions to the crowd.
Students were welcomed to watch and be the crowd for those presenting. Hot chocolate and various snacks were provided to those who attended.
Some of the Powerpoints presented by students were “Things I Believe Should Be Edible,” “Which Monster High Characters Would Win in a Fight” and “What is Wrong With the Descendants Political Plot: An In-depth Guide.”
Each powerpoint was presented in a playful and lighthearted manner, while also being interactive with the audience.
Attendees talked about how easy it is for college students to focus on the negative aspects of college. “We can sometimes feel buried,” said Vee Lewis, a freshman SOTA member. “To be able to have fun events like Powerpoint Night can really help with that.”
Lindsey Randolf, a freshman transfer student in attendance, stated that this was one of her first campus events she was able to attend since she has transferred for the spring semester.
“I really did enjoy this event,” said Randolf. “I liked that this gave a kind of creative outlet for people to share their perspectives.”
The hosts of this event expressed that there would be a possibility of another Hot Takes Night to be scheduled. “SOTA has tons of events every month that anyone is welcome to join us in,” said Lewis.
