Senior guard Charity Gallegos has been a standout player for the University of North Alabama (UNA) women’s basketball team this season, earning recognition and accolades for her impressive performances.
Hailing from Sacramento, California, Gallegos attended Folsom High School, where she developed her basketball skills and showcased her talent on the court. Her dedication to the sport led her to pursue collegiate basketball, and she has made significant contributions to the teams she has been a part of.
Gallegos began her collegiate basketball journey at Cal State San Marcos before transferring to UNA. At UNA, she has been a key player, starting in 28 of 29 games during the 2024-25 season. Averaging 14.3 points per game with a shooting percentage of 39.6%, she has been instrumental in the team’s success. Her three-point shooting accuracy stands at 36.4%, and she maintains a free-throw percentage of 79.5%.
Gallegos’s exceptional performance has not gone unnoticed. She was honored with the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN) Women’s Basketball Player of the Week and Newcomer of the Week awards in December 2024, marking the first time in UNA’s Division I era that a player received both honors simultaneously. In a standout game against Bethel, she scored a season high 25 points, narrowly missing a triple-double with seven assists and seven rebounds. Her consistent excellence throughout the season led to her selection for the Third Team All-ASUN in March 2025, further cementing her status as a vital asset to the UNA Lions.
Standing at 5 feet 5 inches, Gallegos plays the guard position with agility and precision. Her ability to read the game, coupled with her shooting accuracy, makes her a formidable opponent on the court. Her leadership and performance have been crucial in guiding the Lions through a competitive season.
