Florence will be getting its first new fire station built since the 1970s after breaking ground on the new Fire Station 4. The new station will be the first fire station built in the city since the 1960s.
“Florence Fire & Rescue has a long-standing tradition of excellence, and Station 4 is a testament to our commitment to public safety,” said Florence Mayor Andrew Betterton. “This is a proud moment for our city, and we look forward to the impact this station will have for generations to come.”
The new station will be located at 3250 Mahogany St. and will replace the current Station 4 on Huntsville Road. Florence Fire Chief Tim Anerton said the new location is expected to improve FFR response times and provide firefighters with more modernized facilities.

“This new station represents a significant investment in the safety of our residents and the well-being of our firefighters,” said Anerton.
The $4.4 million construction project is estimated to take around 420 days in total to be completed. Its opening is projected to be in 2026.
