Men’s golf prepares for the conference championship after a season filled with broken records and weekly awards.
The University of North Alabama’s men’s golf team is set to face the Atlantic Sun Conference championship’s rivals.
The team placed seventh out of twelve at last season’s championship with a score of 884, totalizing a 20-over-par. Four UNA golfers finished the championship at the individual top 30.
Overall, the team has brought home seven ASUN weekly awards won by junior Xing Luo, sophomore Andrew Ferworn, and junior Sebastian Bengtsson. Luo broke UNA’s Division I record of ASUN Golfer of the Week awards, beating former Lion Jackson Wedgeworth.
Individual records only increase. Junior Blake Henriques became the fifth Lion to finish his day with a 65 overall score, keeping him at seven-under-par, at the Golfweek/Any Given Tuesday Invite at Pawleys Island, S.C.
Out of nine tournaments played throughout the 2024-25 season, UNA finished first in two, second in two, and third in one. The team was also a leader at the season’s first tournament, the Wolfpack Collegiate, in Apex, N.C., until it was canceled due to inclement weather.
The men’s golf team will travel to Valdosta, GA for the ASUN championship on March 20-22.
