June 8, 2015
Three UNA students competed in the Miss Alabama Pageant June 3-6 at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.
Each woman, Rachel Wammack, Rachel Persall and Chelsea Yarber, brought home an award from the pageant.
“UNA won more awards and represented more than any other school at Miss Alabama,” said Director of Student Engagement Tyler Thompson. “They claimed the house.”
Miss UNA, junior Rachel Wammack, won the Miss Congeniality Award, and the Finalist Talent Award. Wammack received over $3,000 in scholarships.
Rachel Persall, junior, was named the 4th runner up in the final pageant June 6.
Wammack and Persall also tied for the best overall talent award.
Chelsea Yarber, senior, won the Children’s Miracle Network Miracle Worker Award for her fundraising and volunteer efforts with the organization.
Along with the women, the Miss UNA Pageant won the award for Most Outstanding Large School Preliminary Pageant Award.
“It has really been a great year for UNA,” Thompson said.
