UNA junior Jessica Ann Smith died Tuesday at the Village Parc Apartment complex on Darby Drive in Florence, officials said.

Smith, 21, of Selmer, Tennessee, studied accounting at UNA.

“Jessica was always so social and friendly,” said sophomore Shanna Hodges, who took a speech class with Smith. “You could really tell that she had a good heart and worked hard. I was sad when I heard something had happened to her.”

Police believe the autopsy performed by the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences indicates no foul play.
