Senators pass legislation creating greater financial accountability
March 7, 2014
Student Government Association Senators passed a bill requiring proposed legislation that involves spending $200 or more be posted outside the SGA office for student viewing.
Proposed legislation which involves spending $1,000 or more must be published to the SGA website in addition to being posted outside the SGA office.
The proposals must be posted at least 48 hours before Senate’s weekly meetings, which are held Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. in Room 200 of the Guillot University Center.
Passing this bill is a major step toward achieving greater transparency, one of SGA’s goals, said Sen. Adam McCollum.
The bill will take effect this fall.
