Senate creates Lion Night scholarship
February 7, 2014
The Senate branch of the Student Government Association voted Feb. 6 to allocate $1,000 to establish the inaugural Lion Night Scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded to a student whose name is drawn at random during Lion Night on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014.
The purpose of Lion Night is to give UNA students the chance to experience what Downtown Florence has to offer, said Jensen Joiner, who proposed establishing the scholarship.
To enter the scholarship drawing students will have to put their names in boxes at various downtown businesses. This will encourage students to check out what Florence has to offer and will give SGA a chance to give back to the student body, Joiner said.
