Griffin court date delayed until November

Hearings for Corey Langley Griffin, 20, a UNA student and former tennis player, have been delayed until Nov. 8, according to officials at the Colbert County Courthouse.

Griffin was charged with second-degree rape and sodomy in early September after allegedly sexually assaulting a fellow UNA student.

Muscle Shoals Police said Griffin was allegedly intoxicated when he called the victim for a ride home. Upon arrival, Griffin forced the victim, a 20-year-old female UNA student, to perform oral sex and raped her in the front seat of her car, police said.

According to Mark Linder, UNA director of athletics, Griffin was suspended from the team after the charges were brought against him. Linder said all athletes charged with felonies are suspended from the team.
