State of The Flor-Ala, LeBron James part 3

The Flor-Ala has gone through a massive facelift this year. Sometimes, I’m completely taken aback by the positive response we’ve had. To those with any kind of negative comments about it: keep those coming, too.

We’ve tried to cover our campus to the absolute best of our ability, and overall, I think we’ve done a heck of a job keeping you dudes informed. If you all see some areas that we aren’t covering, please feel free to shoot us a line. I was unable to attend Step Sing this year (sorry Parker), but I heard a lot about it.

The fact that we got a shout out in this year’s program was completely flattering. I’m not even sure what the exact lyrics were, but it could’ve compared me to Gary Busey and I’d be happy. I mean, it seems like The Flor-Ala is finally relevant to students again. Which, to my knowledge, hasn’t been the case the last few years.

I remember not even a year ago, The Flor-Ala seemed to be at a lull on campus. This year, the level of excitement is completely encouraging. Please, keep your feedback coming strong. Now that I’ve got that out of my system I can dive on into my “real” editorial.

LeBron James, you are the thorn in my side. I loathe you, but I love you. This will be my third editorial directed at King James, and I’m sorry. When I finally think I’m done with him, he goes out and impresses me like he did against the Magic.

During pre-game warm-ups, members of the Magic mocked LeBron. The pack, led by Dwight Howard, mimicked a team photo shoot. Then, Howard proceeded to do the “LeBron chalk toss.” Yeah, it was funny, but I’m still scratching my head over the point of it all? If you watched the game, LeBron literally was on fire.

He had an NBA and personal season high of 51 points, and virtually dominated in every aspect of the game. Maybe Howard could’ve spent his time during warm-ups, I don’t know, PRACTICING FREE THROWS? Come on, man. You shoot 57 percent from the line. You could budget your pre-game time a little better than stomping a hole in the hornet’s nest that is LeBron James.

Not even Smokey could put out that forest fire last Friday night. Mocking an opponent with the big play potential that LeBron has is more outrageous than saying the future position the Packers supposedly want to offer Bret Favre is “Team Photographer.” Yes, I went there.

I still won’t call myself a “fan” of LeBron, but seeing him play at that level makes me excited for the smack talk in class with Morris Linson come Eastern Conference Championship time (Celtics in five).
