A moment in the spotlight is what many aspiring artists look for when they are trying to start a career in the hard-to-conquer entertainment industry. A Shoals area resident is working to give artists in the Shoals an outlet to perform and show what they are made of.

“Fifteen Minutes of Fame” started off January 18 at the Trojan House in Muscle Shoals. The event gives local musicians a chance to show what they are made of in 15 minutes. The event is going to be held the third Tuesday of every month at the Trojan House.

“We wanted to give young musicians a good outlet to perform,” Sydney McGuire, a student at Northwest Shoals Community College, said. “It is an opportunity for people to come together and meet new people that you can’t meet anywhere.”

McGuire said the event’s purpose is to give college students in the area a chance to do something and to showcase the talent in the Shoals area.

Musicians featured at the inaugural event included Corey Keenum, Travis Harkins, Cameron Crouch, Xavier Frye, Ben Skipworth, Matti McIntyre and The Papertrails.
