December graduation ceremony has 6 guest limit per student

Due to the incomplete renovations to Flowers Hall, students graduating in the fall will be limited to a maximum of six tickets for family and other guests.

Leana Wilson, UNA registrar, said this will only be required for fall graduation because of the limited seating during the time of renovations.

The university plans to accommodate the leftover tickets, but is unsure how at this time.

Senior Sarah Hartley said she understands that the university is doing what it has to and that it is only temporary. She said it is important to keep in mind the university is growing.

“Something like this may end up permanent,” Hartley said. “We as a school just need to keep an open mind and make sure we are all working toward solutions.”

Senior Josie Stanley said she thinks the graduating class is at a deficit compared to other classes.

“I personally have several more friends and family that would love to attend, but now they can’t,” Stanley said. “I, of course, understand and appreciate the fact that the university is trying to improve their facilities, but I am disappointed that the fall class of 2018 is having to pick and choose who gets to come to their graduation.”

Ticket pick up will be Dec. 12 through Dec. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Gulliot University Center.

Graduating students can expect an email sent to their UNA email account about the tickets.
