Black Student Alliance (BSA) partners with Criminal Justice Student Association (CJSA) and Social Work Organization (SWO) to hold a Trivia Night, which is their first event of the semester. The event took place on Feb. 8 in room 330 of the Commons at 5:30 p.m.

Students, who had heard of the event from a flier on social media or word of mouth, piled into the building after a long week of classes and attempted to escape from the busyness of college life. Stress took the backseat as they munched on pizza and teamed up together for a competitive game of Kahoot!.

“It was an amazing turnout,” said Scelena Harris, BSA President. “I was so glad that we got to work with SWO and also CJSA, and that [students] were able to come out and have fun. This was just a great event for BSA to start their semester off with. I happy with the whole outcome.” UNA students enjoy the trivia night held by Black Student Alliance, Criminal Justice Student Association and Social Work Organization.

In the game, there ended up being 6 teams with a limit of 5 people in each. These teams were nicknamed the Golden Girl, BSA, a frog emoji , United way!!, triad, power puff girls and YM.

The Kahoot! consisted of 80 questions and were split off into 9 categories. Those categories were music, video games, true crime, general black history, black history athletes, black inventors, memes, social work and UNA trivia. A wide variety of topics, the Kahoot! asked questions like, How many times has the film ‘A Star is Born’ been made?” and “What was the 2020 Black History Month theme?”

“I think our flyer reached the right amount of people and the perfect amount showed up,” said Maddie Davis, CJSA President. “I think it’s important to collaborate because you’re building a relationship with other organizations, [increasing] the turnout and making sure everyone’s feeling included.” President of SWO Sherry Nickman shared a similar remark. Nickman said she saw trivia as an awesome opportunity to build relationships, network and meet new people.

While the event offered students snacks and a place to hang out, the true prize of the night were gift baskets for the top two winning teams, which were United Way!! and Power Puff Girls.
