Nestled beside El Pollito Loco sits a new eclectic coffee shop and eatery, Café de Frida. The cafe is named after Mexican artist Frida Kahlo and offers many Mexican recipes. It hosted a first soft opening on July 28 and fully opened for business on Aug. 9.

The cafe provides cozy and diverse decor paired with tasty treats. A hit product has been the Dirty Horchata, which is creamy, sweet, and has the perfect tang of cold brew. The smoothie bowls provide the perfect refresher for hot August mornings.

The cafe also boasts a good brunch menu, with “Frida sandwiches,” three burrito selections and fresh daily pastries ranging from muffins to tres leches cake.

“This cafe has a gorgeous exterior and interior with lots of beautiful depictions of Frida Kahlo and artwork,” a Facebook reviewer said. “The staff is so welcoming and friendly and are each working hard to ensure a wonderful experience for everyone.”

A visit to the cafe proved the friendliness of the staff and tastiness of the food. The wait was slightly long, but the good food made it worthwhile. The bright blue exterior was inviting and the inside was cozy. Patrons happily chatted, worked on laptops and ate their food.

“Today me and my family tried Café de Frida and let me tell you, the staff was welcoming and friendly,” another reviewer said. “The food was perfect. We tried Burrito Rojo, Burrito Blanco and a Churro pancake. We also got the Dirty Horchata, I’m not sure which I loved more but I can’t wait to go back and try more!”
