The Career Center will host an event aimed at students seeking part-time employment while at school.
The center will host a part-time job fair on Sept. 4th from 10-2 p.m. in the GUC Atrium. It is a good opportunity for students to make connections and find a job that is flexible with their class schedules. This will be the first-ever part-time job fair on campus.
There will be eight local employers, such as four food industry services, a realtor, a sales company, a bank and a farm.
All students are welcome to attend on Thursday. Dr. Rickey McCreless, the assistant director of external connections and student success, said the event can assist students struggling financially and who find it hard to get a job.
“We wanted to do it early in the semester for students who may need part-time jobs to assist them with compensation through college”.
No resume is needed, but McCreless recommends always handing employers something they can remember to leave a lasting impact for future job opportunities.
“Employers always tell us that face-to-face is what they value. If you’re just throwing online applications into these employers looking for part-time work, you’re just a name in the crowd. But you have an opportunity to go face to face with these guys”.
“They are here because they want to hire you,” he said.
McCreless added that students should take advantage of the event. No matter the outcome, it is an experience to grow as an adult.
