Birmingham meteorologist James Spann will attend UNA’s Family Weekend as the newest speaker in the Sunseri Speaker Series. His speech will be given on Saturday, Oct. 11, starting at 1 p.m. in Norton Auditorium.
A short reception will follow his speech, as well as a meet-and-great with Spann. The event is free of cost and open to all students and family members in attendance on Family Weekend.
UNA’s College of Arts, Sciences, & Engineering teased that attendees can “expect stories, inspiration, and maybe even a few weather memes.”
Spann will be the most recent speaker for the Sunseri Speaker Series. Guest speakers from previous years included artist and designer Leah Gilliam, as well as Chef Lisa Ramsey.
The series was able to come to fruition through a generous donation from UNA alum David Sunseri. The donation was made to honor his sister, Jennifer Leigh Sunseri. The goal of the series is to celebrate the arts and sciences.
Spann, a man of science, has been the Chief Meteorologist for ABC 33/40 for 28 years. He has over 45 years of experience as a television weather anchor. He has attended many events to share his stories, including Turbo Coffee, a local Florence business.
This will be his first time speaking at UNA.
