As part of their year-long dedication to this organization, SGA will begin their fall fundraising initiative, “Crews and Brews,” within the next week. SGA’s chosen philanthropy this academic year is Disability Support Services.
This is one of three large-scale events that will give back to DSS.
“Crews and Brews” is a project-based fundraiser, meaning staff and students can order their products this fall and expect to receive them by the spring. SGA Senator Hannah Call crafted the design for both the crewnecks and the insulated tumblers.
Philanthropy Chair Damari Moore said that this fundraiser “helps support an amazing department here on campus.”
“They serve so many students here and we want to help them,” said Moore. “We want to give back to them, and help them get the things that they need.”
DSS is an office on campus that serves to support students on campus needing various accommodations. As said on the Aubrey & Annie Looney DSS website, the office assists with “learning, physical, and psychological disabilities” of on-campus students, online students and even students at off-campus instructional sites.
SGA did a similar fundraiser last year called “T’s and Totes” which featured the opportunity for students to order UNA sweatshirts, t-shirts and tote bags. This was one of the large scale events that served last year’s chosen philanthropy, Student Counseling Services.
Students can purchase their “Crews and Brews” orders online via UNA’s Marketplace platform. Students can visit this link https://epay.una.edu/C21684_ustores/web/index.jsp
SGA will also post links on their social media platforms which will take those interested directly to the preorder form. Preorders will open Monday, Oct. 20.
