Fight in Rice Hall leads to UNA student arrest

Emmanuel Nared, 21, was taken into custody March 17. A trespass notice has been issued for Nared for attacking another student with a box cutter.

A UNA student was arrested after he allegedly assaulted another student Tuesday night in Rice Hall, authorities said.

Interim UNA Police Chief Mark Parker said a student received superficial cuts when he was assaulted with a box cutter.

Officials said the two students got into an altercation about possession of personal property.

Parker said a trespass notice has been issued for the assailant, and a Student Conduct hearing will be scheduled immediately.

He said the victim was treated at the scene and declined transportation to the hospital.
