Police investigate strong-arm robbery

UNA Police are investigating a strong-arm robbery that occurred Sunday around 2 a.m. in the area of Lion Drive and Circular Road, authorities said.

Interim Police Chief Mark Parker said the crime occurred between acquaintances, as the victim identified the robber, according to reports.

“Right now we don’t believe there’s a credible threat to campus,” Parker said. “We believe this was an issue between two individuals that got out of hand.”

He said the offender, a UNA student, used some form of physical force to take personal items, such as a cellphone and a wallet, from the victim.

A charge of strong-arm robbery indicates no weapons were used.

Parker said all details of the case are currently under review.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is asked to contact UNA Police at 256-765-4357.
