Senate tables cowbell bill

SGA Senators tabled a bill that would allocate $3,362.51 for the purchase of 8,000 cowbells for students and community members to ring at home football games.

The cowbells cost 83 cents each for a total of $6,640. With shipping, fees and discounts included, the total cost of the cowbells is $6,762.51.

The athletics department will pay for 50 percent of the cost, or $3,400, if the bill is passed, leaving SGA responsible for the remaining cost, said student senator Adam McCollum.

Purchasing the cowbells will compliment the development of the Unatics school spirit organization, McCollum said.

“The purpose of purchasing the cowbells is to increase school spirit among students and members of the community,” he said. “It will also go hand-in-hand with the development of Unatics.”
