SGA senate prepares for homecoming, campus events

SGA Senate met last week to discuss homecoming and other events for the next month.

SGA will be selling raffle tickets for $2 to raise money for the SGA Endowed Scholarship. This is still in the planning stages as far as what prizes are going to be given away in the raffle. The discussion was tabled for next meeting.

A safety forum was held by SGA at 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 23. Students and Chief Pastula discussed campus safety concerns.

Homecoming elections will be held Sept. 23-25. There are 19 nominations.

Senate passed to have a smoke-free survey attached to the homecoming ballots. SGA hopes to get feedback on how students feel about having a smoke-free campus.

“The reason that I even wanted to go through the research with this is this is a growing trend in our country,” said Sarah Emerson, SGA Semi Pro-Tempore. “There are over 1100 schools in our nation that are smoke-free. This is something we need to see if our student body is even interested in.”

The Chief Justice of the judicial branch for SGA swore in 10 new senators.
